The Turkish leader, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, was considering the option of negotiations on Syria in Türkiye.
According to him, if Damascus takes steps towards improving relations with Ankara, Türkiye will do the same. Erdoğan added that Türkiye and Syria has not been enemies before.
The Turkish President stressed that Ankara could send invitations to the Syrian side at any time. He also expressed hope for improving relations between the two countries.
"Putin has his views on holding a meeting in Türkiye. The Prime Minister of Iraq also has his own approaches to this issue. We always talk about mediation, but why can’t our neighbors be mediators?",
