Baku is hosting the 3rd International Humanitarian Forum attended by Nobel Prize winners, representatives of international organizations and experts from over 100 countries. The first day was focused on multiculturalism. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave a speech on topical issues of globalizing world.

UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova said that the 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum had become an excellent platform for studies of global humanitarian problems and their prevention, Trend reports.The forum focuses on sustainable development, science, technology, education and multiculturalism aimed at strengthening peace and sustainable development. Bokova believes that the forum will help form a common humanitarian agenda for protection of human rights.

According to the CEC, current President Ilham Aliyev gained 84.55%. Alexander Dzasokhov, the former president of North Ossetia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, deputy chairman of the Russian Commission on UNESCO Affairs, commented on the results of the elections in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza.

GUAM to cooperate with Azerbaijani youth organization

Azerbaijani MP Fuad Muradov and GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili signed a cooperation memorandum bewteen GUAM and the Silk Road Youth Association today, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports. Muradov said that similar documents had been signed with the UNESCO and 10 other international organizations.

On June 19 in Moscow the 15th General Assembly of the Organization of News Agencies in Asia and the Pacific started. OANA was established in 1961 on the initiative of UNESCO to facilitate the exchange of information in the Asia-Pacific region. Today, the organization brings together the leaders of 44 news agencies from 35 countries. The South Caucasus is represented by delegates from Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey. General Director of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency Maxim Minchev believes that the Bulgarian population has great interest in news from the Caucasus.

The Union of Architects of Russia held a press conference dedicated to the results of the 37th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Cambodia from 17 to 27 June 2013. This year 19 new objects have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list. 14 of them are artificial and five natural. UNESCO decided to preserve the Kremlin and Red Square, the Kizhi churchyard, the historic center of Yaroslavl and the Solovetsky Archipelago.

Azerbaijani Minister for Culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev and Bokova signed a framework agreement to cooperation in education, science, culture and communications.Bokova thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for active cooperation with the organization.
