South Caucasian Pipeline exports 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas in 3 months

The South Caucasian Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) exported 1.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas in January-March 2011, the same as in the same period of 2010, the Azerbaijani Statistics Service said, Business Georgia reports. The pipeline exported 336.5 million cubic meters in January, 423.9 million cubic meters in February and 539.6 million cubic meters in March.The pipeline exported 4.9 billion cubic meters of gas in 2010, exceeding the quantity in 2009 by 300 million cubic meters.

Contract on Shah-Deniz transit through Turkey to be signed this year

Partners developing the Azerbaijani gas condensate Shah-Deniz and the Turkish state pipe-laying company Botas are negotiating a contract on transit of Azerbaijani gas through Turkey and purchase of the gas on the second stage of the project, head of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev said, Trend reports. He said that a memorandum was signed earlier. Abdullayev said that the contract will be signed by the end of this year.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) and its partners within the project of the development of the Shah Deniz deposit in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea signed an agreement on prolongation of the contract until 2036. The previous contract was until 2031. The agreement was signed in December 2010.

Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan to realize joint gas pipeline project

Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan will start the realization of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project by taking into account ecological risks, participants of the international conference on “Ecological aspects of the Trans-Caspian pipelines” said, ITAR-TASS reports. The conference saw approximately 300 specialists from 20 countries. Ecologists, oil and gas specialists made reports.

Realization of TAP depends on Shah-Deniz gas

Realization of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project depends onthe launching of gas supplies from Shah-Deniz at the Azerbaijanisector of the Caspian Sea, spokesman of the project, Michael Hoffmann,told Trend.The first gas supplies of the second stage of development ofShah-Deniz are expected in early 2017. The field will produce up to 25billion cubic meters annually. Hoffmann says the TAP is part of theSouthern Energy Corridor project.

KazMunayGas continues talks on transport of oil through BTC

BP halts work on Azerbaijani platform

BP, operator of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block in the Azerbaijani sectorof the Caspian, halted oil extraction from the light platform atChirag field, BP Azerbaijan told Trend on Wednesday. The work washalted on Saturday.The operator said that they need repair works required by securityrules. BTJ restores oil pumping

Oil pumping on the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeykhan (BTJ) pipeline, halted due toan oil leakage on the Turkish section near Erzurum, has been fullyrestored, BP (operator of the pipeline on the territory of Azerbaijanand Georgia) said on Thursday, Trend reports.Botas had earlier requested oil pumping be stopped .

BP intends to produce over 42mln tons of Azeri light oil in 2010

BP announces expenses for third quarter of 2010

BP spent $1.099 billion on Azerbaijan within the framework of theDevon Energy deal for purchase of a share in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli(ACG) field of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the companyreports.The total sum of the company's expenses in the first nine months ofthis year reached $17.555 million against $14.396 million in the sameperiod last year. The level of capital expenses in the third quarterreached $6.656 million, compared with $4.983 million in the sameperiod last year.

Japan refuses to extract Iranian oil

The leading Japanese oil company INPEX has officially renounced developing one of the world's largest Azadegan oil reserves in southwestern Iran, ITAR-TASS reports.In the past, companies such as Italy's ENI, Norway's Statoil, Anglo-Dutch Shell and France's Total have declined participation in Iranian projects, due to the international sanctions recently taken against Iran because of the conflict over its nuclear program.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline boosts output

The output of Azerbaijani oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline grew by 2.5% in the period January-September 2010 compared to 27.964 million tons last year, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan's (SOCAR) official press-service reports.The pipeline was opened operation on the 1st of October 2006 and 134.501 million tons of crude oil have since been exported from Azerbaijan's Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field through it. The pipeline's output is 1.2 million bpd.

Turkish petroleum giant breaks all contracts with Iran

Turkish major oil company Turkish Petroleum Refineries Co (TUPRAS) has followed the decision of European energy giants and announced the breaking off of all existing contracts with Iran. This action is presumed to be a direct result of pressure from the US, expressed in an official request from the State Department, NEWS.am reports. However, Turkey’s oil minister Taher Yaldiz stated that TUPRAS is a privately held firm and made the decision without any consultation with the authorities.”The private sector can continue trading or stop trading.

Major Western companies close in Iran

Four major energy companies are closing their offices in Iran due toeconomic sanctions introduced by the USA against Tehran, a spokesmanfor the US State Department said, the BBC reports.The companies include Royal Dutch Shell, French Total, NorwegianStatoil and Italian ENI.Swiss company Naftiran Intertrade Co has decided to stay in Iran.
