Urbanization in Azerbaijan is growing rapidly. A UN report indicates the country's built-up area has increased by 55% over a 25-year period.

Since 2000, the urban area has expanded by more than 324 square kilometers, reaching 914 square kilometers by 2025.

The UN report further projects that Azerbaijan's urban population could approach 7 million by mid-century, with over 60% of the country's residents expected to live in cities.
