Ministers to report about fulfillment of president's orders

Ministers will make monthly reports and have personal meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Fulfillment of the president's orders is supervised by Constantine Chuychenko's office, Izvestia cites Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov.Reports will be based on decrees Putin signed on his inauguration. Education Minister Dmitry Livanov, Labour Minister Maksim Topilin and Minister for Healthcare and Social Development Veronika Skvortsova will meet Putin at the end of the month.

 High-ranking officials of the Russian Presidential Administration has given Izvestia an unofficial rating of Russian ministers. He called 7 ministers hard-working, 9 sustainable and 5 inefficient.The 5 are Minister for the Far East Affairs Victor Ishayev, Education Minister Dmitry Livanov, Minister for Regional Development Igor Slyunyayev, Minister for Transportation Maksim Sokolov and Minister for Labour Maksim Topilin.

Vladimir Burmatov, deputy head of the parliamentary committee for education, said that Minister for Education and Science Dmitry Livanov will attend the governmental hour to discuss amendments to the bill on freedom of conscience and religious associations passed together with the bill on education, RIA Novosti reports.According to the documents, school administration may provide praying rooms if its pupils and parents request them.

World Teachers’ Day 2012

Over 1.35 million Russian teachers are marking World Teachers’ Day today. The USSR started marking the day in 1965. It used to be celebrated on the first Sunday of October for about 30 years. The marking of the day on October 5 started in 1994, according to the UNESCO calendar. Russian Minister for Education and Science Dmitry Livanov congratulated all teachers. He said that the bill on education of Russia will be a new step to secure state guarantees for teachers.

Youth policy remains Russia’s priority

Youth policy is still a priority in Russia, Russian Minister for Education and Science Dmitry Livanov said at the Conference of Minister for Youth Affairs of the Council of Europe, RIA Novosti reports.The minister wants more involvement of young people in social practices, development of personality and studies and formation of values.He noted that Russia has about 36 million people (about quarter of the population) aged 14-30.
