According to US ex-Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza’s statement last week, Turcas Holding, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), offered to build a gas pipeline along the Mediterranean Sea to link the Israeli gas fields and the Turkish port. EBRD to grant Nabucco West loan after making choice of pipeline route

 The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said today that it will conclude studies of the Nabucco West project and decide on the loan volume for the pipeline after the Shah Deniz Consortium chooses a route of the Southern Gas Corridor, Trend reports.Shareholders of the project will invest 30% of the total sum. According to EBRD evaluations, the project is worth about €4.3 billion. €1 billion of the sum will be paid by the EBRD, EIB and the IFC.

 Botas (Turkey) is negotiating an increase of gas supplies with Gazprom (Russia) via the western route. Botas wants to buy additional 1 billion cubic meters of gas, Trend reports.Botas refused to extend the 25-year contract on gas purchases, saying that Gazprom prices were too high. But a long-term deal was signed between Gazprom and Turkish private companies in late November.Russia supplied Turkey with the majority of the 39.7 billion cubic meters imported in 2011. Iran and Azerbaijan are the second largest gas suppliers of Turkey.

 Turkey needs to have a constant reserve of 4 billion cubic meters of gas. It has consumed 40 billion cubic meters this year.A Botas spokesman Gazi Dulger said that Turkey will build gas reservoirs for the said volume by 2019. The gas-holdervat Lake Tuz will store a billion cubic meters of gas from 12 boreholes.The project worth $640 million is realized by China Tianchen Engineering Corporation.Turkey has only one gas-holder in Silivri, belonging to TPAO. It may hold 2.6 billion cubic meters.
