BP doubles Nabucco construction expenses

BP has doubled the evaluation of prices for the Nabucco gas pipelineto 14 billion euros, due to rising prices for raw constructionmaterials, especially iron ore, RIA Novosti cites The Guardian.The Nabucco project is aimed at transporting natural gas from theCaspian region to European states, by-passing Russia throughAzerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria.

EU commissioner for energy backs Nabucco construction

EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger said that preparationsfor the realization of the Nabucco gas pipeline have been made, andOMV and other participants of the project should start itsconstruction, AFP reports.The EU is paying special attention to Nabucco after incidents thathalted Russian gas supplies to Europe.Nabucco is a competitor to the Southern Stream project, a pipelineconstructed by Russia's Gazprom and Italy's ENI. SOCAR-TURCAS receives license to sell gas in Turkey

The Joint Petrochemical Company SOCAR-TURCAS has received a license for the wholesale of gas on the domestic market of Turkey, Trend reports.The license was granted for a period of 30 years by the regulatory group of the Turkish energy market.An agreement was signed earlier by Turkey for the acquisition and subsequent sale of gas amounting to 1.2 billion cubic meters per year to Turkey. BP-Azerbaijan declined the proposal of the Turkish company Botas toraise prices for oil pumping on the Turkish section of theBaku-Tbilisi-Jeykhan (BTJ) pipeline. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan starts retail gas sales on Turkish market

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, is going to sell gas on the Turkish retail market from next year, the president of SOCAR Rovnag Abdulaev stated on Saturday, Trend reports. According to him, Turkey agreed to purchase and retail 1.2 billion cubic metres of gas annually.In the near future SOCAR and Turkish national pipeline company Botas will sign a contract on gas transfer by the Turkish company to SOCAR's Turkish branch and onwards, following sales on Turkey's internal market.

Gazprom increases gas supplies to Turkey - 3

Gazprom once again increased gas supplies to Turkey: this time from 32 to 42 billion cubic meters daily, due to a temporary delay in Iranian gas deliveries to Turkey, RIA-Novosti cites the management of the gas holding.“As a result of the temporary suspension of gas supplies from Iran to Turkey due to technical reasons, the Botash company has turned to Gazprom with a request to increase the supply of Russian natural gas through the "Blue Stream" gas pipeline until the completion of repair work,” the management said.

Evaluation process of NABUCCO project financing start

International financial institutions have initiated the evaluation process of 4-billion euro potential funding for the building of the Nabucco pipeline, the managing director of the consortium NABUCCO Gas Pipeline International GmbH Reinhard Mitschek said today, European media say.The final decision on funding is expected to be taken in 2011, while construction work is expected to begin in 2012. The pumping of the first gas through the pipe is scheduled for 2015, depending on the availability of the sources.

Romanian-Hungarian section of Nabucco pipeline opens

Hungary and Romania have opened the 47-kilometer Arad-Szeged branch section of the Nabucco gas pipeline, connecting Hungarian and Romanian gas distribution systems, the oil and gas company MOL (a participant in the gas pipeline project) said in a message, RIA Novosti reports. The section passes through Hungary. A 60-kilometer section in Romania, constructed by Transgaz, opened earlier.

Azerbaijan and Turkey to finish gas talks by spring of 2011

Bulgaria signs agreement on Nabucco construction

The government of Bulgaria signed an agreement on constructing the Bulgarian section of the Nabucco gas pipeline with its operator, RIA Novosti reports, citing the US newspaper Upstream.The operator of the project is a consortium consisting of Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE. The project is a competitor of the ‘South Stream’ gas pipeline project, an agreement on which was signed between Russia and Bulgaria on July 16th.

Kurdish militants bomb Turkey's Botas pipeline

Militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) attempted to blow up a pipeline belonging to the Turkish Botas company this morning, Trend reported.The terrorists placed a bomb under the pipeline near the city of Giresun.An investigation is underway.

Egypt considers possibility of gas supply by Nabucco

Egypt is considering the possibility of connecting the Pan-Arab gas pipeline to the Nabucco pipeline, to supply its own gas by this route, the Oil Minister of Egypt, Samih Fahmi Amin, told Trend in Baku.
