Rosneft and Lukoil plan to continue exploring the Sea of Azov , RIA Novosti reports, citing head of Rosneft Sergey Bogdanchikov.On the Temriuk-Akhtarsk field in Krasnodar Territory of the Azov shelf they plan to take seismic measurements.The license belongs to Oil Company Priazovneft, a joint venture of Rosneft (42.5%), Lukoil (42.5%) and the administration of Krasnodar Territory (15%).

Russian Premier Vladimir Putin visited the stationary oil platform named after Yuri Korchagin, located in the Caspian Sea, which is starting oil extraction, RIA Novosti reports.The Korchagin oil field is located 180 km from Astrakhan and 200 km from Makhachkala. It is being developed by Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft, a branch of the private oil company Lukoil.

Austria is ready to participate in the South Stream project.

The Austrian authorities plan to sign an agreement with Russia about Austria's participation in the South Stream gas pipeline project. The agreement is due to be signed on April 24 in Vienna. The project is expected to be valid for 30 years. After its signing, it will go for ratification to the Austrian parliament.

SOCAR ready to provide 12 billion cubic meters of gas for Nabucco

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) confirmed its readiness to provide 12 billion cubic meters of gas for the Nabucco pipeline, the Bavarian state minister for federal and European issues Emilia Mueller said on Friday, after a meeting with SOCAR Vice-President Elshad Nasirov, Trend reports. “However, the pipeline will need 31 billion cubic meters of gas. That is why we are negotiating with other countries for their participation in the project”, Mueller said.

Azerbaijan resumes gas supplies to Russia

Azerbaijani State Oil Company has resumed gas supplies to Russia, said source in the company, as reports Trend. Gas delivery through the Mozdok-Kazimagomed pipeline, which connects the gas system of Azerbaijan and Russia, was suspended on Tuesday from 10:00 am Baku time. The gas supply was suspended to eliminate gas leakage, occurred at the 356 kilometer of the pipeline.

Russia produces batch of fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant

The next batch of fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant is ready and will be transport to Iran a year after the start of the reactor, said president of the TVEL corporation Yuri Olenin, according to  RIA Novosti. "The next batch of fuel be needed a year after the launch of the reactor, and if it is launched this year, the fuel will be delivered in 2011", Olenin said. The first batch for launching the reactor was delivered in Iran in 2007.

Oil prices surge to over $86 a barrel

The price of oil rose as high as $86.57 a barrel on the New YorkMercantile Exchange on Monday as economic data spurred optimism thatfuel demand will increase as the economy rebounds, reports Bloomberg. At 18.28 MT crude oil for May delivery increased $1.56, or 1.8percent, to $86.43 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brentcrude oil for May settlement rose $1.61, or 1.9 percent, to $85.62 abarrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange.

Iran to stop fuel imports within 3 months

Mohammed Roayan, the head of the Iranian Committee for Transport and Fuel said that his country is able to become achieve entire self-sufficiency in supplies of fuel and combustive-lubricating products this year. He said that under normal circumstances Iran would be unable to achieve self-sufficiency this year, but if sanctions are imposed on imports of fuel in the Islamic republic, sharp increase in production of gasolinr during a quarter is quite achievable, reports MIGnews.
