Russian exports to Iran have increased by 50% following the implementation of a free trade agreement. Year-on-year trade turnover between the two countries has grown by 35%, as announced by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov during a meeting with Iranian counterpart Seyed Mohammad Atabak.

"We are already seeing the positive impact of the agreement's implementation—the free trade area agreement, which entered into force on May 15, 2025. In the first three months, Russian-Iranian trade turnover increased by 35% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, Russia's exports to Iran rose by 50%. This indicates further potential for growth",

Maxim Reshetnikov said.

Since May 2025, Iran has lifted export restrictions and reduced tariffs to zero. Iran currently applies such liberal trade terms exclusively to Russia, Reshetnikov noted.

Let us remind you that a full free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU countries was ratified on May 15, 2025, following consultations that began in 2018.
