Iran plans to import water from Tajikistan

Iran will import water from Tajikistan under a trilateral agreement tobe signed by Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, Iranian Minister ofEnergy Medjid Namju said, Trend reports. The water will be used inpower plants. Namju did not clarify the amounts of water to bepurchased.

Ajaria to cooperate with Turkey in tourism

The government of the Ajarian autonomy and the Turkish province of Artvin have signed a memorandum on cooperation, which suggests a project for Turkish tourists to visit Batumi, Business Georgia reports.The framework of the program involves tours from Artvin to Batumi.

Georgia and France to cooperate in energy sector and in tourism

The energy ministers of Georgia and France, Alexander Khetagluri and Jean-Louis Borloo, have signed a cooperation agreement. The document is targeted at the expansion of economic cooperation between the countries, Trend reports. The document was signed in the framework of the official visit of the Georgian delegation to France, led by president Mikhail Saakashvili.

New power stations to be opened in South Ossetia

The construction of 7 new power stations is planned in South Ossetia, RES reports. The construction of a thermal power plant in Tskhinvali is being discussed. All the projects are the result of the joint enterprise "Gazprom - South Ossetia". The creation of the joint enterprise was approved by signing an agreement on April 6th 2010. 

Turkey will freeze joint projects with Israel

The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz,made a speech at a conference on rational use of energy, organized bythe energy structures of the US and the Turkish-American council. Hesaid that there will be no joint projects until normalization ofrelations with Israel, 6news reports.This includes humanitarian issues, gas projects and other projectsrelated to water resources. There will be no gas transport using ‘BlueStream – 2’.

Red Crescent to build modern clinic in Azerbaijan

The Red Crescent Society will build a 120-capacity clinic inAzerbaijan after the Ministry of Healthcare approved the initiative,Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Muhammed Bagir Bukhrami said, APAreports.The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen ties between the twocountries. Iran has lifted the visa regime for Azerbaijan and hopesthat Azerbaijan will do the same, the ambassador noted.

Armenian-British businessmen chamber opened in Yerevan

The official opening ceremony of an Armenian-British businessmenchamber took place today. According to the chairman and founder of theArmenian-British union and member of the chamber's council, AykArutiunyan, they came up with the idea to open the chamber a year agoand it was realized in Yerevan. Turkey proposes joint production of drones with Azerbaijan

The Turkish company 'Global Teknik' has proposed the start of thejoint production of mini drones with Azerbaijan. According to APA, theGLOBIHA drone was presented to Azerbaijani Minister of Industry YaverJamalov at the SOFEX exhibition in Jordan in May. He was presentedwith the technical details and features of the aircraft.

Iranian projects to be realized in Georgia

A meat processing plant will be built in Georgia using Iranian investments, the Georgian Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli said on a working visit to Iran, Business Georgia reports.He said that the sides are planning aiming at extending cooperation in agriculture and intensifying trade relations. ‘Mir’ pipeline construction contract signed off in Iran

The deputy minister of oil and Director-General of the IranianNational Gas Company, Javad Ouji, said that the Board of Directors ofthe Iranian National Oil Company have ratified the contract onconstruction of the 'Mir' pipeline to export Iranian gas to Pakistan,priced at $7 billion, Iran News reports.A high-ranking delegation from the Pakistani Ministry of Oil andNatural Resources will arrive in Tehran for the signing.

Azerbaijani telecommunication satellite construction deal signed

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and InformationTechnologies (MCIT) has signed a general contract on the constructionof the first Azerbaijani telecommunication satellite, AzerSpace. Thecontract was signed by the director of the Center of InternationalConnections and Calculations of Jalil Jafarov and the vice-presidentof Orbital Sciences Corporation (USA) Michale Larkin, Turan reports.

USA and Armenia discuss nuclear security issues

The head of the US delegation to Armenia, special envoy of the US State Department Michael Stafford, appreciated the participation of Armenia in the program of joint efforts against the trafficking of nuclear and radioactive material, the press-service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told New Armenia.The US delegation and heads of various Armenian agencies and departments discussed the process of program implementation in Yerevan. The program was signed by Armenia and the USA on 14th July 2008.

Japanese company to carry out hotel project in Yerevan

The Japanese company Aray Architects has won a tender to develop aproject to build the the hotel complex Intercontinental. According tothe head of the architectural group, Levon Vardanyan, the famousJapanese architect Aray Yokaza will work on the hotel project, ArmeniaToday reports.
