An armed assault was made on two Russians in the city of Vanadzor (formerly Kirovakan), Gazeta.ru reports.A Russian citizen Alexander, born in 1992, was hospitalized with penetrating knife wounds in the chest on the 4th May.

One dead in Dagestan gas distribution communications center attack

A man has been shot dead at a gas distribution communications center in the Karabudjahkskii region of Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports. Unknown gunmen forced the employee, his wife and child out of the building at gunpoint before setting fire to the facility, located near the village of Kakashura. They then shot the man dead.

Police officer wounded in Kabardino-Balkaria attack

A traffic police officer was wounded when an unidentified gunman opened fire on a checkpoint in the North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, RIA Novosti said on Monday, quoting a police source. The source said the attack took place at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and that the officer's life was not in danger.

Kalbardino-Balkaria offers reward for information into Nalchik bombing

The authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria have put up a 3 million rouble reward for information which would help the investigation into the terrorist attack at the Nalchik hippodrome, Interfax reports quoting sources in the Interior Ministry of the republic.At a session of the operations staff on Sunday, lieutenant-general Yuri Tomchak called for raising the security level in the the region and launched an investigation into the terrorist attack at the racetrack. 

Local administration office fired on in Ingushetia

The administration office of the Hasyr-Kort district of Ingushetia came under attack at 10pm yesterday, ITAR-TASS reports. One shot was taken at it from a grenade launcher. There were people inside at thetime, an Interior Minstry source reports, saying it was a miracle thatno one was injured. The building itself sustained damage. After thegrenade launcher shot the criminals fired at the building withsubmachine guns for an hour. The gunmen are being searched for.

Couriers from Azerbaijan arrested in Moscow

Couriers from Azerbaijan transporting over $5.1 million in bags weredetained in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports, citing a spokesman from theInvestigative Committee of Russia's Interior Ministry."The couriers were delivering cash to Moscow from Azerbaijan severaltimes a week...5.5 billion rubles were transferred to fictitious firms'accounts," the spokesperson noted.

Turkish singer Tarkan may get two years in jail for drugs

The popular Turkish singer Tarkan may get two years in jail “for use, purchase, storage and marketing of drugs”, says the charge sheet of Istanbul’s prosecution office, published on Friday, RIA Novosti reports. The singer was arrested in Istanbul in March. 12.5 grams of hashish were found in Tarkan’s villa. Several other people were arrested together with the singer.

Cossack ataman shot dead in Dagestan

Unknown gunmen shot dead an ataman of the local Cossack community in Dagestan on Wednesday evening, a source in the law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti on Thursday.According to his information, the ataman, who was also head of the operational district gas service, was assaulted at 21.30 Moscow time in the settlement of Krasny Voskhod, situated in Kizlyar district."The unknown assailants fired from submachine guns at an Opel car. The ataman died of his injuries on the spot", said the source.An inquiry is now underway.

130 kilos of explosives discovered in Dagestan

Two caches of explosives have been discovered 15 km north of Makhachkala, reports Gazeta.ru citing the press service of the FSB of Dagestan.The caches contained four 50-liter  cans filled with a mixture ofaluminum powder and ammonium nitrate. The caches were destroyed by experts, a FSB source said. According tohim, the total weight of the explosives was 130 kilos.

A self-made explosive device has been set off at the parking near the МВД (Ministry for Home Affairs) office this morning at 8.50 in Nazran. The explosive has been fitted under the car of the Vice Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Beslan Shagiev. At the moment of the explosion there was no one in the car. Cash-in-transit guards were attacked in Nazran around 12.40 AM Moscow time. According to the information of the Ministry for Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, “four armed people made an attempt to steal money, threatening with weapon.” Nevertheless they have faced with armed rebuff of the collectors. Criminal investigation office chief killed in Kabardino-Balkaria

The unknown blew up the car of Criminal Investigation Office Chief, Zuber Shukhaev, at  7 p.m. Moscow time on Saturday in Nalchik, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the police Information Centre of  Kabardino-Balkaria.Zuber Shukhaev died in hospital at night on April 11.The inquiry is now in progress.
