Slutsky to head Russian delegation of observers at Azerbaijani presidential polls

Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), head of the Russian parliamentary committee for the CIS, Eurasian integration and compatriots, will head the delegation of Russian observers for the Azerbaijani presidential polls of October 9.The delegation consists of members of the United Russia (Oleg Lebedev, Gajimet Safaraliyev, Nadezhda Shkolkina, Murad Gajiyev, Zaur Gekkiyev, Svetlana Maksimova and Svetlanad Zhurova), CPRF (Kazbek Taysayev), LDPR (Ilya Drozdov) and A Fair Russia (Alla Kuzmina).

Elections held in 80 out of 83 Russian regions

On September 8th local elections are being held in 80 out of 83 Russian regions. Heads of regional administration are being elected in 8 regions, regional legislatures are being elected in 16 regions, and 8 regional capital cities are electing their mayors.

Bill on deportation of migrants introduced to Russian parliament

Igor Lebedev and Yaroslav Nilov of the LDPR have introduced the bill on deportation of migrants violating the residence regime to the Russian parliament, RIA Novosti reports.According to the document, the rising number of such violations should be stopped by execution of fines and deportation.The existing law states that deportation is possible, but not obligatory.

The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) will send a proposal to the Russian Union of Insurance Companies, Federal Service for Financial Markets, Ministry for Finances, Foreign Ministry and the Federal Migration Service to oblige foreigners and apatrides to get insurances, RIA Novosti cites LDPR members Igor Lebedev, Andrey Svintsov and Yaroslav Nilov.

Russian polling center predicts 67% votes for Sobyanin as mayor

The WCIOM polling center of Russia predicts that Moscow acting Mayor Sergey Sobyanin will get 67.4% of votes during the elections on September 8, RIA Novosti reports.According to forecasts, Alexey Navalny will get 13% of votes, Ivan Melnikov (deputy head of the Central Committee of the Communist Party) 6.5%, Yabloko head Sergey Mitrokhin 5.4%, LDPR member Mikhail Degtyarev and A Fair Russia head Nikolai Levichev 3.3% each.The polling center expects 48% of the city’s population to take part in the polls.

 Prosecutors of the Stavropol Territory say that purchase of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado off-roaders by the local parliament for 6.7 million rubles was a violation of the law on efficient expenditures.The vehicles cost 2.22 million rubles each. Yuri Bely of the United Russia Party said that the cars were needed to move through territories with bad roads.The LDPR demanded the contract on purchase of the vehicles to be scrapped. The sum should be spent on housing and utilities, healthcare, road construction.The region has a debt of 15 billion rubles.

 The Kizilyurtovsky District of Dagestan held elections of the local assembly, RIA Novosti reports.Magomed Shabanov remains the acting head of the region. The United Russia Party, CPRF, A Fair Russia, Patriots of Russia, LDPR and the Right Cause were participating in the elections. Each party introduced 28 people for the 23 seats of the assembly. Over 62% of the population voted.The parliament of Dagestan dissolved the local deputies in late 2012 for three months of idleness.

Russia will switch to winter time before the end of the year and will no longer be switching to summer time every year, Izvestia reports.Natalya Timakov, press secretary of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, denied rumours about the government’s decision to switch from summer time. Russian parliament to criminalize 'blasphemy'

The lower chamber of Russia's parliament will consider a bill on punishments of people for offending religious feelings of people with 5 years of prison and fines increased 100-fold, as stated on Wednesday by Yaroslav Nilo (LDPR), head of the parliamentary committee for social associations and religious organizations, RIA Novosti reports.Public offenses against religious ceremonies and feelings will be punished with fines totaling up to 300,000 rubles, obligatory work of up to 20 hours or jailing for 3 years.

Speaker of Russia's Federation Council against 'clan' bill

Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko believes that a bill forbidding family groupings in parliament may be considered, but it is not a topical issue at the moment, RIA Novosti reports.Andrey Isayev, chairman of the parliamentary committee for social policy, proposed a bill preventing relatives from working at the parliament. A similar bill may be composed for the government too in the future.
