Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with his US counterpart, Donald Trump on January 5. The two discussed a number of current issues, including Venezuela, according to Erdoğan's office.
"The leaders discussed bilateral political relations between Türkiye and the USA, defense industry cooperation, steps to achieve the target trade volume between the two countries, as well as regional and global issues, including the situation in Gaza and Venezuela",
Turkish Presidential Office said.
The talks reportedly also covered the potential supply of US F-35 and F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye and the possible lifting of US sanctions imposed under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).
