Israel’s foreign minister Gideon Saar has criticised French president Emmanuel Macron after he reiterated support for the recognition of a Palestinian state, calling his actions “dangerous”.
"Macron is trying to intervene from the outside in a conflict to which he is not a party, in a manner completely disconnected from the reality on the ground after October 7th," Gideon Saar said.
According to the Israeli minister, Macron is very interested in U.S. visas for Palestinian Authority officials.
"He is not outraged by the wild incitement in the Palestinian education system against Israel and Jews. He also does not protest the payments transferred by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and their families," Gideon Saar said.
Earlier, Macron said that “no offensive, annexation attempt, or forced displacement of populations will derail the momentum” towards a two-state solution.
Tensions have risen after France announced it would recognise Palestinian statehood at the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York, a move that prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accuse Macron of fuelling anti-Semitism.
