Uzbekistan's public debt surpassed $48 billion in the first half of the year, an increase of nearly $5 billion year‑on‑year, the Economy Ministry said.

The debt‑to‑GDP ratio fell from 32% to 27%.

External creditors hold about 84% of the debt, which grew by 11%, while domestic debt rose by 9% to roughly $7.6 billion.
