Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the republic is not preparing for war, as he issued a congratulatory statement on the 34th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
He noted that the Armenian military has gone through a difficult period of formation, but now its defensive capabilities increasing.
"In recent years, a vast amount of modern weaponry and military equipment has been acquired—of a quality and specification that our army has never had before," Nikol Pashinyan said.
According to him, large-scale fortification works are being carried out along Armenia's borders.
The PM stressed that Yerevan is not preparing for war, because it has no mission, beyond defending the Republic of Armenia's internationally recognized territory.
"We are not preparing for war, because there will be no war. Peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and there is no more reliable guarantee of security than peace," Nikol Pashinyan said.
