The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed the launch of a massive missile attack targeting Israeli territory and American military facilities in the Persian Gulf region. The operation, dubbed "True Promise-4," was carried out in response to a joint attack by the US and Israel. The Pentagon has also issued its initial assessment of the strikes.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued an official statement announcing the start of Operation True Promise-4. According to the IRGC, the operation will continue until "the enemy is decisively defeated," IRNA reported.
Iran emphasized that the strikes specifically targeted military bases "used for aggression." Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, warned that "any base in the region that assists Israel will become a target," adding that Tehran would not hesitate.
Iranian ballistic missiles struck four key American bases located in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait.
Despite the scale of the attack, preliminary data from Washington indicates no American military casualties, according to NBC News. Two sources within the US defense department stated that, based on current information, no Americans were killed in the strikes on facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar.
Officials did confirm, however, that infrastructure at the U.S. Navy base in Bahrain sustained damage. They stressed that this assessment is preliminary and that the situation remains highly fluid. The Pentagon anticipates that Iran may attempt further strikes in response to ongoing U.S. and Israeli operations.
Tensions in the Middle East reached a critical point on Saturday. The Israeli and U.S. Air Forces carried out strikes on several Iranian cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, and Kermanshah. After U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of a military operation against Iran, Tehran launched its massive retaliatory strikes.
