Despite the war in Iran, Russia increased shipments along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) by 13% last month, Russian Railways CEO Oleg Belozerov said.

The volume of cargo traffic along the INSTC in March has increased 13% compared to the same period last year, Belozerov said at the International Transport and Logistics Forum.

He noted that amid the military campaign by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, the operation of the North-South Corridor deserves special mention, as it did not stop for even an hour.

"There were certain nuances at the Azerbaijan-Iran connection points, but the entire corridor remained operational," Belozerov said.

The head of Russian Railways explained that specific measures had been taken, allowing the route not only to continue functioning but also to significantly increase cargo volumes. Accordingly, the March figure grew 13% compared to the same month last year.
