Iran wants to be observer in EAEU

The Chairman of the EEC board, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, said that Iran had announced its intentions to obtain observer status in the organization.

According to him, the association received a corresponding note from the Islamic Republic on May 27. Sagintayev added that it would be considered in due course.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk previously spoke about the procedures for obtaining observer status. According to him, Iran will become an observer at the end of the year if the procedures are implemented.
