President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held phone talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on July 9, the press service of Azerbaijani President's Administration reported.
Ilham Aliyev congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as President of Iran, and wished him success in his activities.
Masoud Pezeshkian, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for his attention and congratulations, stressing that he would spare no effort to develop relations with Azerbaijan in all spheres in the future.
During the conversation, the sides discussed issues of mutual concern.
The presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran expressed confidence that Azerbaijani-Iranian relations based on common religious and cultural roots, friendship, and brotherhood would continue to expand, and cooperation between the two countries across various areas would develop.
Ilham Aliyev invited the Iranian counterpart to pay a visit to Azerbaijan. The President of Iran accepted the invitation with pleasure and invited the President of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Iran.
