The Tbilisi City Court ruled that the Chinese citizens detained Friday during an attempted uranium pellet purchase will remain in custody pending trial, according to the Prosecutor General's Office statement.
During the court hearing, the men pleaded not guilty. A hearing, during which the case will be considered on the merits, will take place within the next two months.
The suspects were apprehended in Mtskheta Municipality the day before yesterday. The operation was carried out by State Security Service officers. Surveillance footage shows security forces detaining the buyers of the radioactive substance. A car is seen parked on the side of the road. Two containers containing uranium pellets are visible in the trunk, along with a measuring device. No information has been disclosed regarding the sellers of the uranium.
