U.S. authorities are holding talks on the deployment of International Stabilization Force to oversee compliance with peace agreements in Gaza - slated for potential deployment in early 2026.
The U.S. is currently in talks with several countries regarding their participation in the international coalition, Al Jazeera reported.
"We expect the deployment of international stabilization force units in Gaza at the beginning of 2026, with the involvement of one or two countries in the first stage," a source said.
The distribution of authority is still under discussion, with no definitive decision yet on a U.S. leadership role. Washington is negotiating with several countries, including Arab states, concerning the force's structure, logistics, and rules of engagement.
A source in Washington emphasized that the peacekeepers would not be permanently stationed or deployed inside Gaza.
The U.S. talks on implementing the second phase of the Trump peace plan are also underway. Washington and other mediators are discussing the formation of a police force to operate within Gaza.
