Vladimir Putin holds phone calls with Ilham Aliyev today

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a phone call to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday, the Azerbaijani president's press service reported. The sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Ilham Aliyev celebrates his 64th birthday on December 24.

"The Russian President congratulated the head of state on his birthday, wishing him success in his presidential duties and robust health," the statement reads.

It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the attention and congratulations.

During the conversation, the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan also exchanged views on the prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries.

"During the telephone conversation, the parties touched upon issues discussed at the recent meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, and discussed regional matters," the statement reads.
