The Armenian government has extended the ban on exporting grain for six months, with the decision reached at the government's meeting.
The document stipulates that exporting wheat, meslin, barley, corn, buckwheat, sunflower seeds and sunflower oil is prohibited.
The government rationalizes the decision based on solidifying food security, given that domestic production of goods does not cover the needs of the Armenian market, as met through imports, specifically around two-thirds of wheat and nearly 100% of sunflower oil imported to Armenia from Russia.
Russia's quota for grain exports will be 20 million tonnes in 2026, the quota for rye exports is 0 tons. Quotas will be in effect from mid-February, 2026.
