Central Bank: sanctions against Russian banks don't create systemic risks

The recent inclusion of a number of Russian banks into sanction lists is not perceived as a shock anymore, Governor of the Russian Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said.

"The recent inclusion of new banks into sanction lists is not perceived as a shocking event anymore and does not create systemic risks," she noted.

"Compared to banks earlier hit by sanctions, they are relatively small, have managed to prepare in terms of reducing assets that may be blocked, and our support measures implemented for such situations cover them automatically," Nabiullina said.

New sanctions against Russian banks were introduced in late February of this year.
