Putin holds phone talks with elected president of Iran

Today, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, called the new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, and personally congratulated him on his victory in the presidential elections in Iran, wishing him success in his responsible government position, the Kremlin press service reports.

"The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, had a telephone conversation with the elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian. Vladimir Putin congratulated him on his victory in the presidential election and wished him success in his responsible government position",

the Kremlin press service said.

During the conversation, the leaders of the two countries noted the current high level of good neighbourly relations between the Russian Federation and Iran, and also confirmed their readiness to work together.

Putin and Pezeshkian also agreed to organize personal contacts this year. Earlier, Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential election.

Let us remind you that as Vestnik Kavkaza previously reported, reformist Masoud Pezeshkian won the second round of early presidential elections, becoming the ninth president of Iran. He received 16,384,403 votes, and the conservative representative Saeed Jalili received 13,538,179 votes.
