Turkey expects the signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia as soon as possible, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, addressing the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Shusha.

Fidan highlighted Türkiye's support for a swift and successful conclusion to the peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He praised Azerbaijan's steadfast determination and positive approach towards achieving a peace agreement but criticized the perceived bias of some Western nations that, according to him, favor Armenia and overlook Azerbaijan’s legitimate concerns.

“We hope that the current negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia will lead to the signing of a peace agreement as soon as possible,” Fidan said.

The diplomat emphasized that Türkiye is invested in the success of these negotiations, expressing dissatisfaction with the position of several Western countries regarding the ongoing normalization process between Baku and Yerevan.
