Georgia's Kutaisi Mayor Ioseb Khakhaleishvili has announced his resignation today.
Despite stepping down, Khakhaleishvili will remain part of the Georgian Dream team and plans to continue serving the country in a different capacity.
"I will continue to serve my country as an ordinary soldier so that Georgia continues to develop. Let’s give our people, especially my beloved people of Kutaisi, the opportunity to live peacefully,” Ioseb Khakhaleishvili said.
Khakhaleishvili recalled that he worked in the public service for more than 10 years in various leading positions.
"This has been the best opportunity to do things for our city during these years," Ioseb Khakhaleishvili said.
