A trilateral meeting between Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia is taking place today in Baku, the Azerbaijani media outlets reported.
The meeting is co-chaired by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk and Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadeghi.
The trilateral discussions are expected to focus on transport and logistics cooperation, energy collaboration, and customs issues.
Mustafayev said the trilateral meetings between Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia play a crucial role in deepening cooperation in trade and economic relations, transportation and logistics, energy, and other areas of mutual interest.
"Promoting peace, stability, security, prosperity, and cooperation in the region is essential for developing collaboration across all sectors," Shahin Mustafayev said.
In this context, the “3+3” regional consultation mechanism is gaining relevance, he noted.
According to Azerbaijan's Deputy PM, it is necessary to develop economic and trade cooperation between the regional countries based on equal and mutually beneficial principles, while working to create a permanently favorable environment for the implementation of investment projects.
"We are confident that our multifaceted ties with both countries will continue to develop in the spirit of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and trilaterally, and will be further enriched with new dimensions," Shahin Mustafayev said.
He noted there is the project for a trilateral connection between the power grids of Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia.
