An event in memory of the victims of the 1992 Khojaly tragedy was held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow.

Every year, diplomats, politicians and public figures gather at the embassy to commemorate the memory of the people who died on the night of February 25–26, 1992 at the hands of Armenian nationalists and mercenaries.

A total of 613 people died that night, including 106 women and 63 children. Another 150 people went missing, 1,275 Khojaly residents were taken prisoner, 5,379 became internally displaced.

The tragedy in Khojaly transformed the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict into a full-fledged war. With the pre-planned capture of the city and the murder of civilians, Armenian nationalists showed that they were ready to achieve the occupation of Karabakh at any cost.

For more than three decades, Khojaly remained under the control of the murderers. In 2024, for the first time, the memory of the victims of the terrible tragedy was paid in Khojaly itself, full control over which, along with a number of other cities, was returned to Baku as a result of the anti-terrorist operation on September 19–20 last year.
