According to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the US President promised to resolve the issue of supplying F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye in the near future.
He emphasized that he spoke with Joe Biden about the situation around fighter jets on the sidelines of the NATO summit held in Washington.
"We spoke with Mr. Biden last night and today. He said that he would solve this problem (with the supply of F-16s — editor's note) in three to four weeks. I reminded him about this again when I left today",
the Turkish President said.
He added that they also discussed the issue of spare parts.
Let us remind you that Türkiye has expressed a desire to purchase US fighters in 2021. In February, the US Congress gave the go-ahead for the sale of the F-16, but later the media reported that due to increased demand, deliveries would not occur until 2028.
