Russia and Uzbekistan will soon begin training specialists for the future nuclear power plant (NPP). The decision was made by working groups of Uzatom and Rosatom at a meeting in Moscow.
The "Advanced Engineering School" at MEPhI's Tashkent branch will open in October 2025, initially enrolling 20 students in nuclear technology, nanotechnology, photovoltaics, and radiation monitoring, according to Podrobno.uz.
A master's program in nuclear specialties will also be established, with Uzbek students beginning internships at Rosatom facilities in Russia in 2026.
The program will train both engineers and technical staff, with technical personnel training based at the Farish District Polytechnic in Jizzakh Region.
Uzbekistan's first NPP is scheduled to begin phased commissioning in 2029, starting with a small reactor, Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, Director of the Uzatom agency, stated.
