Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s enduring commitment to promoting peace and stability across the region, stressing that the negative propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic is baseless and detached from reality.
The president made the remarks yesterday while receiving the credentials of Olivier Bangerter, the new Swiss ambassador to Tehran.
"Iran continues to stand firmly for stability, peace, and security in West Asia, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening mutual ties and expanding cooperation between Tehran and Bern," Masoud Pezeshkian said.
He praised Switzerland’s historic role as a diplomatic bridge between Iran and the United States since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, calling on Ambassador Bangerter to convey to Washington that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and remains committed to its principles and peaceful policies, Tasnim reported.
The president also lauded Switzerland’s constructive, neutral, and balanced stance among European nations, particularly in international affairs. Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the Swiss government’s cooperation in vital sectors such as medicine and food amid the hardships created by unjust sanctions and misguided Western policies.
For his part, the Swiss envoy voiced pleasure in beginning his mission in Tehran and outlined his key objectives of strengthening bilateral relations and reinforcing Switzerland’s role as a reliable communication channel between Iran and the US. He also pledged to help promote the culture, history, and hospitality of the Iranian people throughout his tenure.
