The Russian State Duma discussed the prospects for developing contacts between Russia and Georgia, with International Affairs Committee First Deputy Chairman Alexey Chepa noting economic cooperation potential despite political divergences.
"Much depends on Tbilisi's own position and the country's readiness for integration, for example, within the Eurasian Economic Union. If such readiness is demonstrated, Russia, as a close neighboir, will be able to offer favorable terms. I am confident that rapprochement with the CIS countries will bring many positive changes to Georgia",
Alexey Chepa said.
By the end of the year, bilateral trade increased by 5.4%, reaching $2.4 billion during the first 11 months.
