Georgian Military Highway reopens to truck traffic

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of North Ossetia, truck traffic has resumed on the Georgian Military Highway. 

"Due to the possibility of ensuring safe passage for vehicles (...), all types of vehicles are permitted to travel on the Vladikavkaz-Lars section in both directions from 10:50 Moscow time on December 29",

the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The highway was temporarily closed yesterday evening at 9:30 PM due to severe snowfall in the region.

It should be noted that plans to reconstruct the Georgian Military Highway were announced in mid-December. It is planned to modernize the 27 km section from Tsitsamuri to Zhinvali.
