Israeli intelligence agencies have linked the attack in Sydney to a unit of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, The Telegraph reports.
Citing sources, the newspaper suggests that Hezbollah's Unit 910, which carries out operations in other countries, may have been involved. Israeli analysts reportedly base this assessment on the nature of the assault.
Israeli intelligence agencies are also currently investigating the possible involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) and Hamas in the attack.
In contrast, Australian authorities have not publicly attributed the attack to a foreign terrorist organization. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has dismissed suggestions that the violence was linked to Canberra's official recognition of the State of Palestine, a connection previously implied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
