Islamabad and Kabul are now in a state of open armed conflict, according to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

"Our patience has run out. Now it is an open war between us and you",

Khawaja Asif stated.

He noted that the Pakistani military has thoroughly studied its adversary and is aware of all its weaknesses, given the two countries share a border.

Asif accused the Taliban government in Kabul of encouraging terrorism and oppressing the population. He also alleged that Afghanistan had "become an Indian colony".

"They have deprived their own people of basic human rights. They have taken away the rights guaranteed to women by Islam",

Asif said.

Fighting erupted along the Pakistani-Afghan border yesterday, with Kabul announcing it had launched a military operation in response to Pakistani airstrikes. According to media reports, clashes are ongoing. At approximately 11:00 AM Moscow time, Afghan forces attacked a Pakistani military base near the city of Nowshera.

Afghanistan has characterised the Pakistani attack as an "act of provocation" and reported dozens of civilian casualties.
