Malaysia and Russia have affirmed their readiness to increase the number of flights between the countries to stimulate tourism growth, following discussions between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Russian delegation leader Alexey Overchuk at the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.
"We... discussed the potential expansion of Russian air routes to Malaysia to increase tourist flow",
Anwar Ibrahim said.
Beyond tourism development, the leaders addressed energy cooperation focused on identifying efficient and sustainable energy solutions, according to RIA Novosti.
The dialogue follows Russia's earlier announcement regarding potential visa-free travel arrangements with six countries including Malaysia, aimed at increasing inbound tourism, given that Arab travelers are showing great interest in Russia.
