In July, Russia sharply reduced ferrous metal and aluminum supplies to the EU, recording a 23% decrease according to Eurostat data.
Total EU imports of Russian ferrous metals reached €175.4 million, reflecting a 23% year-on-year decline though a 2% increase from June. Aluminum imports similarly fell by nearly 22% annually to €60.6 million, with a 27% drop in July alone.
Conversely, exports of finished ferrous metal products surged by 1.6% year-on-year, reaching a record €799,000 since March 2025.
Overall, Russia ranked ninth among EU suppliers of ferrous metals, with Türkiye, China, and South Korea comprising the top three exporters.
