Since the resumption of the blockade of Iran’s seaports on July 14, the U.S. military has rerouted 49 merchant ships, and two more vessels have been put out of action, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

"As of August 6, CENTCOM redirected 49 commercial vessels, disabled 2, and boarded 2," the statement reads.

Earlier, CENTCOM said that more than 20 US ships are operating in the Middle East.
