UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned on April 2 that the world is on the brink of a wider war that would engulf the Middle East with dramatic global consequences.
"We are on the brink of a wider war that will engulf the Middle East with dramatic impacts across the globe",
Guterres said, adding that the conflict is already being felt everywhere.
"Just look at the consequences of blocking freedom of navigation",
he noted.
Next week, the G7 and Persian Gulf states will meet to discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
