The current Chinese President Xi Jinping was unanimously re-elected as President of the People's Republic of China during the voting of deputies of the National People's Congress (NPC). This is the third five-year term of the incumbent head of state.
On Friday morning, elections started at a plenary session by secret ballot, all 2,952 deputies voted for Xi Jinping.
Thus, the incumbent head of state became the first chairman in the country's history, elected to this position for the third time in a row.
Xi Jinping also headed the Central Military Commission of China again. This organization leads all the armed forces of the country.
