The Georgian Foreign Minister commented on the EU decision to suspend the process of European integration of the republic and freeze 30 million euros intended for the Ministry of Defense.
"I would not use the very strict assessments made by the US Ambassador, and I believe that these are micro-level decisions that do not in any way impede Georgia's desire to integrate into the European Union",
Ilia Darchiashvili said.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the financial assistance that EU members decided to freeze serves to strengthen Georgia's defense capability and develop the country's ability to prevent threats.
"We do not understand this type of, so to say, micro-solutions, since the security challenges have not disappeared anywhere... Georgia needs to strengthen its defense capability even more",
the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
He also noted that Georgia's cooperation with the EU is generally based on the Association Agreement.
"We all have our own obligations. We consistently and logically fulfill these obligations",
the Georgian Minister said.
