In the near future, Iran intends to double the volume of gas exports to Armenia. The Iranian Ambassador to Yerevan spoke about this on July 19.

Mehdi Sobhani noted that the annual volume of Iranian gas supplies to the South Caucasus republic is 360 million cubic meters, and Iran receives electricity in return, SNN reports.

"We have also managed to bring the third power transmission line from Armenia to Iran almost to the final stage. It will be put into operation within a few months, and we will be able to double the import of electricity from Armenia",

the Iranian diplomat said.

He also focused on the fact that the Armenian market was very important for Iran since this country is part of the EAEU.

Speaking about Armenian-Armenian relations, the ambassador emphasized that they are of particular importance due to their geographical and strategic location.

"There is a 46-kilometer border between the countries, which plays a vital role in strengthening regional security",

Mehdi Sobhani said.
