The Israeli armed forces have taken control of about 40% of Gaza City, the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) spokesperson reported on September 4.
Effi Defrin noted that Israel began mobilizing reservists this week, a move that significantly enhances the army's operational capabilities.
According to him, the military is currently concentrated in the Zeitoun district and on the outskirts of the Sheikh Radwan district within Gaza.
Israel's plans to begin an operation to establish control over Gaza City were first reported in early August.
