Palestinians in Gaza establish alternative to Hamas

An independent militia is forming in the Gaza Strip with the declared aim of removing Hamas from military and political control over the Palestinian enclave, according to field commander Hossam al-Astal's statements to Arab media.

Al-Astal confirmed the militia receives backing from certain Arab states, Western officials, and Israeli authorities - all participants in the "Trump plan" for Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction.

This development indicates Palestinian cooperation with Israel and international partners to terminate Hamas' governance, though the militia currently operates only in Israeli-controlled zones without direct Hamas engagement.

The militia's formation aligns with the Trump plan's requirement for Hamas' disarmament and removal from power, which the group continues to resist.
