Tourists visit Abkhazia's key attractions significantly more often during the 2026 New Year's holidays than the previous year, with attendance at the New Athos Cave doubling.
According to Astamur Logua, head of the republic's Ministry of Tourism, the flow of tourists to Abkhazia's main attractions increased significantly during the New Year's holidays.
Nearly 10,000 tourists visited the New Athos Cave in a week, compared to 5,000 visitors a year ago.
However, the minister noted that only 5,000 people visited the Ritsa Strict National Park. This low figure, he noted, was due to unfavourable weather conditions and the fact that the road to the famous lake was closed for several days.
