The earthquake occurred in the Turkish province of Balıkesir, according to a statement from the press service of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
AFAD reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.9, with a hypocenter near the city of Sındırgı at a depth of 7.7 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the Kandilli Observatory stated that the magnitude of the seismic event was 5.1, with the hypocenter at a depth of 13.7 kilometers.
The earthquake was also felt in the western part of Istanbul.
