Ankara condemns Israeli West Bank bill

Türkiye decried Israeli Knesset’s preliminary passage of the bill to apply Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank.

The Knesset approved the bill in a preliminary reading on Wednesday. The draft still must pass three additional readings to become law.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the provocative step taken at a time when efforts to establish peace in Gaza are ongoing threatens the already fragile security and stability in the region.

"The West Bank is Palestinian land under history, international law, and the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice," the statement reads.
