The diverted AZAL flight has now landed in Baku after its unscheduled return to St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport. Heydar Aliyev International Airport confirmed the safe arrival of flight J2-020 at 2:24 PM local time (1:24 PM Moscow time).
The incident occurred overnight October 19-20 when St. Petersburg-Baku flight returned to its departure airport following a technical malfunction. Crew reports indicated landing gear deployment issues prevented retraction after takeoff. After three hours of flight in the holding pattern, the plane landed.
None of the passengers or crew members were injured in the emergency landing at Pulkovo.
